Releasing the Fear

In this moment, simply by relaxing your body, you open up to a more enjoyable experience of being alive.

You feel more grounded as your attention moves away from your head and into your body. And as tightness and tension are slowly released from your muscles, something much more enjoyable takes their place…

A sense of ease and well-being; a sense of goodness and positivity starts to flow around your body. It is a natural and totally effortless feeing; the feeling of being at ease and open to the goodness of life’s energy, contained within our body.

And even more important than releasing tension from our muscles is releasing the tension which is present in our heart. Our heart is the most spiritually sensitive part of our being. As you release tension from your heart, you are releasing fear… the fear which keeps us closed and guarded, towards others and towards life in general.

By consciously wanting to release your heart from its prison of tension, you realise that there is no reason feel afraid right now. You always have a choice to relax your body and your heart, and thus open up to the depth of this moment.

This moment contains the gifts we are searching for, and your body is the portal to that deeper realm of feeling. The peace, the connection, the feeling of being loved and at one with something greater than yourself. We feel this.

All we need to do is move past the barrier, which is all the tension held in our body and heart. Tension is the only way that fear can be present in your body. Release tension (which you could also call resistance) and you release fear.

It is totally impossible to feel afraid when you are relaxed. Try it for yourself the next time you feel afraid. Just bring your attention to your body and see the tension which is held there, including in your heart. And then decide to relax your entire body, muscle by muscle. Put your hand on your heart, and allow that to relax also.

Fear can only be present in our body in the form of tension and resistance. Relax your muscles and tension will slowly dissolve, leaving a feeling of ease and relaxation. And thus you will automatically feel more connected to the innate goodness of life, which is what our body is supposed to be feeling.

It is only our resistance (and the tension it creates) which disconnects us from this feeling. But the good news is that you are in control of whether you experience this or not. You are always free to relax and let go of tension, no matter what situation you are in.

So right now notice your body… Is there tension, is there resistance, is there stress? Take a few deep and slow breaths and relax your body. Let the tightness in your muscles be replaced by a feeling of ease. Feel how pleasant that feeling is compared to the feeling of being tense.

We don’t need to battle life, we need to relax and surrender to it. By doing so we tell our heart that it is safe to drop its guard and to open up, and the importance of this cannot be overstated. An open heart can feel the more subtle and beautiful spiritual truth of life; a truth that we all need to feel because ultimately it is Love. The Love which does not have to be earned… just opened up to. And we are always free to open ourselves to Love.

So in this moment right now, I encourage you to relax your body and open up to a different energy; a more gentle and nourishing energy. A more subtle and peaceful energy. Let your heart slowly relax and open up to this also, and just take some time to enjoy resting in the warmth and peace that come from within.
