We all know how easy it is to get tangled up in the realm of thoughts, and to lose our clarity and our peace as a consequence. The mind is a complicated and tricky realm to navigate, and it can tie us up in knots very quickly.
Its extremely important that we learn how to protect our mental clarity and our inner peace. They are very precious, and we benefit profoundly when we adjust the way we live our life to prioritise their presence within us.
This might mean distracting yourself less with screens and spending more time in nature. Or when you have 10 minutes to spare, instead of pulling out your phone, just take the time to connect to your body. Breathe and relax and tune in to the good feelings that come from being grounded, and not so lost in thoughts.
It might mean sitting down less and being more active. Usually when we sit down we start thinking, and our energy begins to stagnate and dissipate.
The more you use your body, the stronger it becomes. The less you use it, the stronger your mind becomes. You’d be amazed how much time most people spend thinking, and the amount of energy they lose by doing so. The more you connect to feeling your body, the less time you will spend thinking, and the more alive, energised and grounded you will feel.
So get out of the habit of sitting down at every opportunity, or pulling out your phone at every opportunity. Use this wonderful gift of a body, strengthen it, relax it more, feel it more, enjoy it more. It offers a realm a sensation, joy, peace and contentment that your mind cannot give you.
Your mind is essentially like a television screen that is constantly distracting you from feeling what your body wants to communicate to you. Get in the habit of ignoring that screen and listening to your body instead. It has a much greater intelligence than the mind. It guides us with subtle feelings and intuition. It tells us what we need to remain in balance and in harmony. The more attention we pay to it, to better relationship we build with it and the more it will enrich us.
And because our attention is no longer caught up in the busyness of thought, we have greater mental clarity. Our mind becomes in service to our body, rather than the other way round, and the inspiration that comes from our heart can inspire us to think creatively and practically. Ideally, thought should lead to positive action, rather than endless abstract thinking which goes nowhere.
So today, aim to spend less time thinking and more time using and feeling your body. Distract yourself as little as possible with your screen, and see what you can enjoy doing instead. Spend some quiet time in nature too, just appreciating the beauty of this world.
The magnificence of the natural world is a reflection of the deep inner beauty of our heart, and being in nature helps us connect to this; it helps us to feel it.
