Within each of us there is a healer and a punisher. The punisher focuses only on the faults of people (including ourselves) and sees its duty as handing out justice – giving people what they deserve for their failings.
It dishes out justice either mentally, through judgemental thoughts, or verbally through spoken criticism and condemnation. The punisher is incapable of saying anything loving, kind or compassionate because it is devoid of those feelings. Anger and resentment is its primary emotional fuel.
Listen to the voice you speak to yourself with when you make a mistake or fail at something. How do you treat yourself? How forgiving are you towards yourself? And how do you treat others when they are unkind to you, or they disappoint you and let you down?
Because the voice of the healer is a loving and forgiving voice, and it is the only voice that can improve your life and bring you the healing you need. We really need to listen out more carefully for that voice, and to what it wants to tell us.
The healer wants to make things better, and to bring love, care and compassion into every situation, because it knows the power they hold to repair damage. It wants to end punishment, and this is what forgivness truly is – releasing the desire to punish.
So be aware of which of these personas is active within you at any given time, and which of them is speaking through your voice. Are you focusing upon the faults (because we all have them) or are you looking for the good (because it is always there).
We all have a different ratio between the healer and the punisher within. For some its 50:50, others its 70:30 and so on. The ultimate aim within our own life, on a daily basis, is to choose the voice of the healer over the punisher. To seek it out and listen to what it wants to tell us. It always speaks with love and care and it completely changes our energetic presence when we pay attention to it. We soften, and become less rigid and aggressive in our energy.
Can we free ourselves completely from the punisher and fully embody the loving energy of the healer? I believe we can. Every day we are given many opportunities to choose which voice we listen to, and which energy to embody. The more you choose the healer over the punisher, the more you will heal and grow. The more you will feel the presence of Love in your heart, and I assure you that nothing is more important than this.
